Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University men's and women's tennis teams bearded the Vanguard Lions earlier today at the Buccaneer tennis center. The Buccaneers won both matches 7-2.

In the men's match-up, the Buccaneer swept all three doubles matches with Samir M'Bioka teaming up with Sebastian Losavio for an 8-2 win over Vanguard's Carl Lumsden/Carl Holmgren team.

M'Bioka, Losavio and Thomas Hipp sat out the singles matches, while Gerold Wiring stepped in at #1. However, Wiring was upset by Lumsden 6-3, 5-7, 7-6, but with an adjusted lineup Colin Riley and Andres Varela both filled in at the #5 and #6 slots picking up their second wins of the season. Riley slipped past Chris Taylor 6-2, 6-2, while Varela blanked Brian Lay 6-0, 6-0.

The men's tennis team returns to action on Tuesday, Apr. 15 at 3:00 pm taking on conference rival Lynn University in a battle for the Sunshine State Conference title.

In the women's match-up, the Buccaneers won by the same score as the men. Barry's elite crew swept all three doubles matches heading into singles competition.

The Bucs defaulted at #6 and fell at #4, but vaulted over the Lions winning the top three singles and #5. Victoria Courmes pounded out a 7-5 tiebreaker in the second set at #1 defeating Vanguard's Olga Hlushchanka 6-4, 7-6, while Greta Trotman picked up a shutout win over Stephanie Tenlen 6-0, 6-0.

The women's team returns to action on Monday, Apr. 21 hosting NCAA Division I Cornell at the Buccaneer Tennis Center at 3 pm.
