Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University women's basketball team shocked the Alabama-Huntsville (6-3) Lady Chargers 64-47 earlier today at the Barry Hoops Classic at the Health & Sports Center.
The Buccaneers (4-4) took an early 11-10 lead at the 13:06 mark, then closed out the period with a 24-5 run to take a 35-15 lead at the half.
In the second half, the Buccaneers extended their lead to 30 leading 60-30 with 10:11 remaining to play. The Chargers tried to battled back trimming the Buccaneer lead to 15, but the earlier deficit was too much to overcome as the Bucs held on for the win.
Sanja Zivanovic led all scorers with a game-high 20 points for the Bucs while added six rebounds. Freshman Karla Mast added 12, while Yashica Nesbit added 10 off the bench.
Leading the Chargers was Chrystalle Duncan with 11 points.
The Buccaneers return to action for the final day of the Barry Classic hosting UNC-Pembroke in the tournament finale on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 4 pm.
