Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. -- The sixth-ranked Barry University volleyball team extended the winning streak to 51 consecutive games with a three-game win over the Florida Southern Moccasins 30-21, 30-25, 30-20 earlier tonight in Sunshine State Conference play at the Jenkins Fieldhouse.
A feisty Florida Southern (13-16, 6-5 SSC) team performed to near perfection defensively out-digging the highly touted Bucs 66 to 59. However, Barry's offense provided the extra edge registering a .206 team attacking percentage and 45 kills to the Mocs' .041 percentage and 40 kills that gave the Buccaneers the boost they needed for the win.
Fernanda Ferreira led the Buccaneer winning efforts hitting .444 with a match-high 14 kills.
Fernanda Brino added 13 kills and a match-high 18 digs, while
Sarah Alexander and
Simone Ferrarezi added 17 and 10 digs respectively.
Daniela Lanza directed the Buccaneers with 39 assists.
Jenni Holste's streak of 13 matches with double-figure kills ended at the hand of the Buccaneers as Barry held her to a mere four on the night. Pamela Stein led the Mocs with a team-high nine kills, while Jordan McAfee directed the Mocs with 33 assists.
The Buccaneers will resume SSC play on Sunday, Nov. 9 taking on the Saint Leo Lions at 2 pm.
