Box Score MIAMI SHORES – The Barry University volleyball team completed its home schedule this afternoon defeating SSC opponent Florida Tech 3-0 at the Health & Sports Center.
The Bucs (20-2, 10-0 SSC), who have now won 48 straight games found themselves down 11-7 early on in the game one, however, quickly rebounded going on a 7-2 run behind the powerful serving of
Fernanda Brino to take the lead at 14-13 and eventually pick up the 30-24 victory. The Bucs, who wouldn't trail again the rest of the way, then carried that momentum into games two and three overpowering the Panthers by scores of 30-18 and 30-19.
Samanta Tucillo led the Buccaneer offensive attack with 11 kills, while Brino followed with 10 and an impressive .500 hitting percentage. Brino also added a team high 3 service aces.
Simone Ferrarezi, who along with
Daniela Lanza and
Fernanda Ferreira were playing there final regular season game at the Health & Sports Center added 10 kills on 22 attacks, while Ferreira added 9 on 18. Lanza led the Bucs with 45 sets and three block-assists.
Jenny Hart led Florida Tech (11-15, 3-5 SSC) offensively with 9 kills and an attack percentage of .316 and Alys Thomas led the Panthers defensively with 2 blocks.
The Bucs return to action on Friday when they visit Florida Southern in Lakeland at 7:00 pm.
