Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers successfully navigated the swampy pitch at Buccaneer Field to beat the Nova Southeastern Knights 1-0 Thursday night.

The Knights (7-7-2) bunkered back as many as 10 players in the first half and held the Bucs out of the net despite several golden opportunities.

But in the 57th minute, Barry's Jena Cernuto drove a ball up the right wing and fed Tammie Thornton inside the 18-yard box. Thornton headed a shot right at Knight keeper Katie Wintle who had the wet ball slip through her fingers and over the line.

That proved to be the only goal of the game as Wintle recovered to turn aside 14 shots and was helped out by her defense which swept two balls off the line, including one by Cortney Reid which would easily gone in. Johanna Fischer picked up her 36th career shutout, despite not facing a shot on goal.

The Bucs (11-4-2) close out the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 2 hosting the Eckerd Tritons at 3:00 pm.
