Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Barry University women's soccer team defeated the Knights of Lynn University 3-0 Tuesday afternoon at McCusker Sports Complex.
The Bucs (10-4-1, 6-0-0 SSC) jumped out in front right away when
Tiina Saario blasted a shot from twenty-five yards out that beat Lynn keeper Kelly Friedrich just 1:35 into the game to take the early 1-0 lead.
Olga Vargas then found the back of the net for her third goal of the season on a cross from
Tammie Thornton at the 11:06 mark and forward
Emelie Karlsson rounded out the scoring with her team leading sixteenth goal of the season at the 24:11 mark.
Neither team was able to get an offensive attack going in the second half and the Bucs held on for the 3-0 victory.

Johanna Fischer picked up the shutout in net facing 7 shots and making 3 saves.
The win is the Buccaneers 38th consecutive Sunshine State Conference win. The Knights were the last team to defeat the Bucs, 3-0 on Oct 9, 1998. With the win and a 3-1 upset of Rollins by Florida Tech, the Bucs clinch thier fifth straight SSC title and win the right to host the conference championship Nov. 7 & 9, providing they win their opening round match on Nov. 4 against the eighth-place team.
The Bucs return to action Thursday when they play host to Nova Southeastern at 7:00 pm at Buccaneer Field.
