Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers slipped by the Florida Tech Panthers 4-2 in Sunshine State Conference men's soccer action Tuesday night at Buccaneer Field.
It was a tail of two games. The first half was played in picture perfect weather and the Panther took advantage by scoring twice in the first 24 minutes. Zach Gabe snuck a 40-yard free kick through the Buccaneer defense at 12:48 and Brian Lundy dribbled through the defense to score a second goal at 24:13.
Barry's
Ricardo Raposo finally beat the Tech off-side trap and drew the Bucs to within one with a shot over Panther keeper Ashley Frost at 40:45.
The second half opened in a downpour and the Buccaneers (10-3-3, 4-1-0 SSC) navigated the wet conditions better than the Panthers (3-11-1, 1-4-1 SSC).
Raposo knotted the game at 51:57 with a chip from 20 yards out off an assist from
Abilio Yamane.
The game winner came at 69:56 when Frost fouled
Thiago Vasconcelos in the box and
Mike Lupton converted the penalty kick.
Vasconcelos added an insurance goal at 72:21 off a throw in from Lupton.
Ido Langer had a pair of saves for the Bucs, while Frost stopped four shots for Tech.
Barry closes out the regular season home schedule on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1:00 pm against Thomas College.
