Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The fourth-ranked Barry University women's volleyball team blasted the Lynn Fighting Knights 3-0 in conference play earlier tonight at the Health & Sports Center. The Bucs won all three games 30-11, 30-26, 30-11.
The Bucs (11-2, 3-0 SSC) clicked on all cylinders to open the match blistering the Fighting Knights (9-10, 0-3 SSC) with a flawless .667 team hitting percentage in the first game and cruising to the win. With the Bucs leading 11-4 in game two, Lynn's Michelle Newman posted a kill and three consecutive service aces to rally her troops who came back to tie the game at 22 apiece. However, the Bucs outlasted the Knights for the win 30-26.
The final game was a near repeat of the first as the Bucs posted only four attacking errors, while posting a .367 hitting percentage. The highly touted Buccaneer squad extended their win streak to seven matches, which includes 21 consecutive games won, only seven shy of the school record.
The Buccaneers blasted a .365 team attack percentage to Lynn's .044.
Fernanda Ferreira hit .600 and led the Bucs with nine total kills, while
Fernanda Brino led the squad with a career-high .833 attack percentage.
Daniela Lanza and
Melissa Lehman shared in directing the Buccaneer attack with 19 assists each.
Larissa Witherspoon led the Knights with eight kills and a .375 hitting percentage, while fill-in setter Jessica Woodby led the Knights with 19 assists.
The Buccaneers will resume play Friday, Oct. 3 hosting Saint Leo in the Health & Sports Center at 7 pm in Sunshine State Conference action.
