Box Score MELBOURNE, Fla.--The Barry University women's basketball team fell to the Panthers of Florida Tech 59-42 Wednesday night at the Clemente Center.
The Bucs (9-11, 3-4 SSC) jumped out to an early 9-5 lead with 15:04 remaining in the first half, but the Panthers quickly came back tying the game at 13-13 at the 10:30 mark. Florida Tech eventually took over the lead and went into the intermission leading 30-26.
In the second half, the Bucs again came out strong going on an 8-5 run, bringing themselves to within one point at 35-34 with 12:09 to play. But again, the Panthers (11-8, 4-3 SSC) were resilient and went on a 19-4 run extending their lead to 54-38 with just minutes remaining in the game. Florida Tech held on to win 59-42.
Leading the way for the Bucs was Sanja Zivanovic who poured in 14 points. Yashica Nesbit followed with 8 points, while pulling down 8 rebounds.
Florida Tech was led by Delicia Phillips who scored 13 points.
The Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon as they play host to the University of Tampa at the Health and Sports Center. Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
