Box Score LAKELAND -- The Barry University women's basketball team fell to SSC opponent Florida Southern 64-51 Wednesday night at Jenkins Field House.

In the first half, the Moccasins of Florida Southern (13-4, 4-1 SSC) jumped out to an early 9-6 lead at the 13:09 mark and saw their lead extend to 19-12 with 6:44 to play in the half. The Bucs managed to get themselves back to within 5 at 21-16 before Florida Southern went on an 11-2 run to close out the first half with a score of 32-18.

Despite the strong effort by the Bucs, the Mocs again took control early on in the second half with their biggest lead of the game coming at the 5:22 mark. Barry (9-9, 3-2 SSC) narrowed that lead to 14 at 58-44 with 2:12 to play but could not manage to come all the way back as the Mocs went on to win 64-51.

The Bucs were led by Candace Blackbird who scored 10 points and had 8 rebounds.

Florida Southern's Lucresia West led all scores with 14 points.

The Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon at the Health & Sports Center when they take on Rollins College at 2:00 pm.
