Box Score DENVER, Colo. -- The Barry University volleyball team fell short of the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs 3-1 earlier today at the Colorado Premier Challenge hosted by Regis University and Metro State. In the two-hour back-and-forth match-up, the Buccaneers won the first game 30-27 then fell in the final three games 30-25, 30-26, and 30-28.
Fernanda Ferreira paced the Buccaneers with a .300 hitting percentage, 18 kills, and 19 defensive digs.
Kelly Dantas was the team's kill leader with 22 and followed up with a .264 hitting percentage and 10 digs, while
Karla Bersano added 10 kills. Setter,
Daniela Lanza added 50 assists for the Bucs.
The Bulldogs were led by Callie Zwettler with 22 kills. She was followed by Becky Kukowski with 17 kills and a .306 attack percentage while Crystal Nucech added 14 kills and a team-high 19 digs.
The loss drops the Bucs to 1-2 on the season, while the Bulldogs improve to 5-0. The Bucs will resume action for their second match of the tournament at 7:30 pm tonight against host Regis University.
