Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Barry University women's soccer extended their winning streak to seven games as they defeated the Eckerd College Tritons 4-0 today.
Emelie Karlsson (Fr., Helsinki, Finland) and
Tammie Thornton (Jr., Cairns, Australia) led the Bucs to their victory over the Tritons with three goals and one goal, respectively. A cross from
Marie Gunnarsson (Sr., Laholm, Sweden) resulted in Karlsson posting the only goal in the first half at 14:33, putting the Bucs up 1-0 at half-time.
Entering the second half with a mission, the Bucs added another three goals. Karlsson was on fire, driving in two goals only 5:20 apart with the help of
Melissa Behrle (So., Safety Harbor Fla.) and Thornton and bringing her to a total of six goals in just two games. A free kick situation resulted in Thornton blasting the final goal of the game at 63:20.
Johanna Fischer (Jr., Verum, Sweden) improves her record to 7-0-0 with three saves on eight shots while the Tritons' Kathy Atkins falls to 3-5-0 with eight saves on 19 shots.
The Bucs improve their record to 7-0-0 overall, 4-0-0 in the SSC while the Tritons fall to 3-5-0, 1-1-0 in the SSC. The Bucs return to action against the University of Tampa on Sunday, September 29, 2002 in Tampa, Fla. at 1:00 pm
