Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry women's soccer team ran its Sunshine State Conference winning streak to 22 games with a 2-0 caging of the Saint Leo Lions Friday night at Buccaneer field.
After battling through a scoreless first half, the Bucs scored twice in two minutes in the second half.
Tammie Thornton scored the game winner at the 61:19 mark of a corner service from
Marie Gunnarsson. Two minutes later,
Olga Vargas chipped in a rebound goal after a Gunnarsson cross.
The Bucs'
Johanna Fischer stopped the only shot attempted by the Lions to notch her fifth shutout. Amber Ferrol had 13 saves for the Lions.
Barry improves to 6-0-0, 2-0-0 in the SSC. Saint Leo drops to 1-4-0, 0-1-0 in the conference. The Bucs host Florida Southern College on Tuesday, September 24 seeking their 23rd straight conference win.
