Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University women's soccer team outlasted south region rival West Florida 1-0 at Buccaneer Field earlier today.
After play had been suspended in the 33rd minute due to lightning in the area, the Buccaneers came back onto the field after a 30-minute delay scoring the only goal of the game in the 42nd minute.
Pamela McDonald scored the winning goal off a pass from
Marie Gunnarsson and
Tammie Thornton from the left side of the 18-yard box. It was all the Bucs needed to seal their first victory of the 2002 campaign.
Off to a great start over region rival West Florida, the Buccaneers improved to 1-0 on the season, while the Argonauts fell to 1-1. The Bucs will return to action on Friday, Sept. 6 at 3 pm facing off with Cal Poly-Pomona.
