Box Score Miami Shores, Fla. -- The Barry University volleyball team played like the defending national champions grounding the Mercy College Lady Flyers 3-0 earlier tonight in match two of the Barry University Invitational winning all three games 30-7, 30-24, 30-23.

The Buccaneers picked up where they left off successfully defending their home court for their 13th consecutive home court win and their 22nd consecutive match over the past two seasons.

Leading the Bucs was Karla Bersano (6-1, Jr., Sao Paulo, Brazil) with 15 kills and a .371 hitting percentage. Fernanda Ferreira followed with 14 kills and a .400 hitting percentage, a team-high 13 digs and 3 total blocks.

The Bucs kicked off their 2002 season 1-0, while the Lady Flyers started out 0-1. The Bucs will return to tournament play on Saturday at 11 am in an exhibition match with Miami-Dade CC.
