Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LAKELAND, Fla.--The top-seeded Barry University women's tennis team advanced to the national tournament with a 5-2 win over host Florida Southern at the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament Saturday afternoon.

It was anything but a typical match for the Buccaneers as they won their 23rd straight match. The Lady Mocs took two of three doubles before the Bucs rallied in singles.

The Bucs' number two doubles team of Gizella Turbok and Bojana Miladinovic got things started off on the right foot with an 8-0 win over Barbara Curic and Kelly Cox.

But the number three team of Ewa Kleczek and Valeria Papandrea dropped their match 8-6 to Marianne Sibille and Laura Salatino after leading 4-1.

At the top flight, Victoria Courmes and Maria Lopez fell behind 3-0, but surged back to force a tie-breaker. In the tie-breaker, Alex Costa Corral and Claire Hall again built a big lead and coasted to a 7-3 win.

Singles was an entirely different story, however. Turbok and Kleczek both made quick work of their opponents with 6-0, 6-0 wins at number two and four respectively.

Papandrea defeated Cox 6-1, 6-2 at number six and Miladinovic finished off the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Sibille.

The Bucs improve to 23-3 and head to the NCAA Division II Tennis Championships in Kansas City, Mo., May 9-12. Florida Southern end its season 15-10.

In the men's final, Florida Southern knocked off the Bucs 5-1 to advance to the championship.

The Mocs swept all three doubles and then got wins at number one and number six singles to seal the win.

Alex Reichl was the lone bright spot for the Bucs, taking a 7-6, 6-4 win over Ryan Dunne at number five.

Florida Southern improves to 19-6, while Barry drops to 11-10.
