Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The 16th ranked Barry University women's volleyball team crushed the Lynn University Fighting Knights 3-0 in Sunshine State Conference action earlier tonight. The Bucs won all three games convincingly 30-11, 30-14, and 30-17.
Down 5-3 to the Knights in game one, the Buccaneers went on a 10-1 run to take the lead 13-6. The Buccaneer stellar defense continued to hold strong as the Buccaneers allowed the Knights only five more points, while rolling on to win the first game 30-11.
From the opening serve in game two, the Buccaneers took the lead early and never looked back for the 30-14 victory in the second game.
In the final game, the Buccaneers fell behind 4-1 early to the fired up Knight attack. However, the Bucs went on another run, rattling off 13 consecutive points sparked by a kill from
Sarah Alexander. The Bucs went on to win game three 30-17.
The Buccaneers offensive threat came alive tonight finishing with a blistering .422 team attack percentage to the Fighting Knights .011. The Bucs also collected 48 team kills to the Knights 25.
Alexander posted her best performance of the season collecting eight of her 15 kills in game three to pace the Bucs, while also registering a .571 attack percentage and five blocks.
Fernanda Ferreira and
Kelly Dantas also tallied double-digits in kills collecting 11 and 10 respectively.
Cristina Perillo led the Knights with seven kills.
The highly touted Buccaneers improved to 16-7 overall and 10-2 in the SSC, while the Knights fell to 13-17, and 2-10 in the SSC. The Buccaneers will return to action on Friday, Nov. 15 hosting Florida Tech for senior night at the Health & Sports Center at 7 pm.
