                    Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- In a rematch of the last season south regional final, the #21 Barry University volleyball team fell short of the #18 Tampa Spartans 3-2 earlier tonight in Sunshine State Conference action.
An intense match in every sense of the word, the Buccaneers came out on top in game one 30-28. The Spartans rallied to take game two 30-27 and evened up the match. Barry won the third game 30-28, but the Spartans did not give up winning the fourth game 30-27 to send the match into a decisive game five. The Spartans once again persevered winning the final game 15-8.
Despite the loss, the Buccaneers had four players register double-digit kills. 
Karla Bersano led the pack with a match-high 23 kills, while 
Kelly Dantas followed with 18. 
Fernanda Ferreira and 
Sarah Alexander each added 11 and 10 respectively. 
Melissa Lehman served up a team-high 16 digs and 
Daniela Lanza finished with 55 assists.
Tampa also had four player register double-digits kills and leading the way was Ania Ruiz with 22. Ruiz also registered a match-high 20 digs. Ericka Womack followed with 18, Amber Langston, 16; and Tiffany Boatwright, 11. Gretchen Naruta served up a match-high 61 assists.
The loss drops the Buccaneers to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in the SSC, while the Spartans improve to 8-6 and 3-0 in the SSC. The Buccaneers will resume action Saturday, Oct. 5 hosting SSC foe Eckerd College at 2 pm.
