Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University women's soccer team stretched their 2002 winning streak to ten games sinking the Rollins College Tars 8-0 earlier tonight at Buccaneer Field.
The Buccaneers first goal was unexpected as Rollins' Stephanie Stein mis-directed an
Emelie Karlsson corner for the own-goal giving the Bucs an early 1-0 lead. Karlsson then rattled off two quick goals in the 23rd and 25th minutes to extend the Buccaneer lead to 3-0.
Britt Miazgowicz responded scoring her first goal of the season at 26:37 giving the Bucs a 4-0 advantage. Karlsson wrapped her offensive attack with her third goal at 36:58 to give the Buccaneers a 5-0 halftime lead.
In the second half,
Tiina Saario ignited the Buccaneer offensive attack scoring a goal on a diving header at 51:24 off a
Pamela McDonald pass. Miazgowicz later added her second goal of the night to extend Barry's lead to 7-0.
Amy Tewis sealed the victory with her first goal of the season at 77:23 giving the Bucs an 8-0 victory.
Karlsson led the Bucs with three goals, Miazgowicz with two goals and three assists, while Saario and Tewis each added a goal. McDonald and Tewis each served up two assists and
Tammie Thornton registered one.
The Buccaneers improved to 10-0-0 overall and 6-0-0 in the Sunshine State Conference, while the Tars fell to 4-5-1, and 2-3-0 in the SSC. The Buccaneers will resume action on Saturday, Oct. 5 traveling to Florida Southern at 7 pm.
