Box Score DAVIE, Fla. – The Barry women's soccer team extended their winning streak to 16 games tonight as they out-jousted the Nova Southeastern Knights 2-0.
Emelie Karlsson put away the first goal of the night at 16:08 off
Tammie Thornton's chip over the Knights' defense raising her season total to a blistering 20 goals. She is on pace to break the school record of 25 goals set in 2000 by Jenny Nilsson for the most goals by a player of either gender.
A handball by Nova at the top of the penalty box resulted in a direct kick opportunity for the Bucs and an unassisted goal for Thornton at 58:51 in the second half, putting the Bucs up 2-0, a lead that would persist through the end of the game.
Barry's defense held strong once again as they allowed only five shots by the Knights and pulled together to stop a dangerous scoring opportunity by the Knights' Karrie Ripple in the second half to hold on to their two-goal advantage and another shut out.
Barry keeper
Johanna Fischer had her 14th shut out of the season and improved her record to 16-0-0 while the Knights' Katie Wintle fell to 6-3-0.
Barry improves to 16-0-0 while Nova Southeastern falls to 10-4-0. The Barry women's soccer team travels to Boca Raton, Fla., to face Lynn University on Saturday, November 2 at 2:00 pm.
