Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The 20th ranked Barry University women's volleyball team knocked off the 11th ranked North Florida Osprey's 3-2 earlier tonight in a key south regional match-up.
The Buccaneers jumped out early winning games one and two 30-23 and 30-26, but the Ospreys rallied back to win games three and four 30-28 and 30-23. In the decisive game five, the Buccaneers were down 5-3, but rallied back to win the game and the match 15-12.
Fernanda Ferreira collected 20 kills to lead the Bucs while also registering a team-high .326 attack percentage and a match-high 9 total blocks.
Karla Bersano tallied 18 kills and team-high 19 digs.
Daniela Lanza led the Buccaneer offense to victory serving up 47 assists.
The Ospreys had five players to register double-digits in kills. Kristen Jansen, Edith Jaworski, and Jessica Bosacki were the team leaders with 17, 16, and 15 respectively. Lauren Westervelt added 12, while Jackie Struck added 10.
The Buccaneers are now 10-6 overall with the win and extended their series lead between the two teams to 16-6. The Ospreys fell to 19-3 overall. The Bucs will resume action this weekend on Saturday, Oct. 26th at Florida Tech at 7 pm.
