Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University women's volleyball team began their mid-season surge toward another conference title icing the Lynn University Fighting Knights 3-0 earlier tonight at the Health & Sports Center.
Continuing with their dominating play in the Sunshine State Conference, the Buccaneers won game one convincingly 30-11. In the final two games, the Knights regained their composure and played much more effectively, but only to fall short 30-24 and 30-21 to the Bucs.
Three Buccaneers registered double-digits in kills with
Fernanda Ferreira leading the way with 11. She also finished the match with a match-high seven total blocks including three solo.
Karla Bersano and
Sarah Alexander each added 10, while Alexander registered a .381 attack percentage.
Daniela Lanza served up 28 assists while also registering a match-high .462 attack percentage. Bersano and Lanza led the Bucs with 13 and 11 digs respectively.
Lynn's Michelle Newman paced the Knights with 10 kills and a team-high .304 attack percentage. Cristina Perillo finished with 11 digs, while Shelby Vollmer added 10.
As a team, the Bucs took advantage of a great offensive plan to register a .360 team attack percentage to Lynn's .074.
The Buccaneers improved to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in the SSC, while the Knights fall to 9-10 and 1-4 in the SSC. The Buccaneers were scheduled to resume action on Oct. 15 with St. Thomas, however, that match has been cancelled. The Bucs will resume on Oct. 20 in Savannah, Ga. facing off with Armstrong Atlantic at 3:00 pm.
