Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. -- In their conference opener, the Barry University women's basketball team were bitten by the Florida Southern Mocs falling 78-54.
Down by as much as 17 points in the first half, the Buccaneers pulled within 11 at the half 42-31.
In the second half, the Bucs were down 54-45 with 11:14 remaining. However, the Mocs turned up the heat going on a 20-4 run downing the Bucs 78-54.
The Buccaneers were led by Amra Alagic with a team-high 14 points while Smokey Nesbit chipped in 11 points off the bench. Yojana Rodriguez came in off the bench and snagged a team-high 10 boards.
Florida Southern's Lucresia West led the Mocs with 18 points and 15 boards.
The Buccaneers fall to 6-7 overall and 0-1 in the SSC while the Mocs improve to 8-5 and 1-0 in the SSC.
The Bucs will return to action Saturday, January 12 against Tampa at 2:00 p.m.
