Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry women's soccer team slipped by the Tampa Spartans 2-1 in double overtime Saturday night at Buccaneer Field.

Tammie Thornton broke free up the middle and took a pass from Ashley Snell to beat the Spartans' keeper, Susan Vaughn, for the game-winner at the 109:56 mark.

The Spartans grabbed an early lead when the Bucs were unable to clear a corner kick and Mindy Simmons slotted a shot home past the Barry defense at the 16:58 mark.

The Bucs wasted no time, however, in evening the score. Snell took a pass from Kirsten Buteau at the top of the six-yard box and poked a ball past Vaughn just 0:36 seconds later.

Johanna Fischer made eight saves for the Buccaneers (8-2-0, 2-0-0 Sunshine State Conference). Vaughn also had eight saves for the Spartans (5-5-0, 1-1-0 SSC).

Barry returns to action on next weekend when the Bucs travel to Colorado to face third-ranked Regis (Friday, Oct. 5) and Metro State (Sunday, Oct. 7).
