Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers were able to come away with a victory over Florida Southern College squeaking by the Mocs 3-1 in the first Sunshine State Conference match-up of the season for both teams.
The Buccaneers looked as if they were going to control the match winning the first two games 30-20 and 30-21. However, the Mocs had other plans winning game three 30-26 over the Bucs and then falling in a tight fourth game 30-27.
Rochelle Magill paced the Buccaneer winning effort with 13 kills and a .393 hitting percentage.
Fernanda Ferreira added a close 12 kills and a .242 hitting percentage. Senior setter
Meghan Clarke led the Bucs with 35 assists while
Simone Ferrarezi carried a team high 14 defensive digs.
The Mocs were paced by Jenni Holste with 13 kills while Jennifer Sawyer added 10 kills and a .227 hitting percentage. Misti Neutzling and Erin Pixton had 14 and 13 digs respectively.
The Buccaneers improved to 9-1 on the season and remain ranked ninth in the NCAA Division II. Buccaneers will be back in action on Saturday, September 22 at 2 p.m. hosting Sunshine State Conference opponent Saint Leo.
