Box Score 2 Miami Shores, Fla.—Barry University women's volleyball team steam rolled into their season, taking both matches at the Buccaneer Invitational from New York Institute of Technology 3-0 and Seattle Pacific University 3-1 Saturday at the Health & Sport Center.
The Bucs defeated NYIT 30-27, 30-25, 30-21 and were led by
Karla Bersano with 17 kills with
Simone Ferrarezi and
Fernanda Ferreira adding 13 and 11 kills, respectively.
Melissa Lehman led the Bucs in assists with 28.
Seattle Pacific fell to Barry 30-20, 28-30, 30-24, 30-26. The Bucs once again were led by Bersano with 18 kills while Ferreira and
Rochelle Magill added 16 and 15 kills.
Melissa Lehman had a career high 39 assists against the Falcons.
The Buccaneers' three-match winning streak is the longest to open a season since the Bucs won nine in a row to start 1994.
The Buccanners are now 3-0 and will be in action again on Friday, August 31, 2001 at the North Florida Classic in Jasksonville, Fla. at the University of North Florida.
