Box Score TAMPA, Fla. -- The Barry University volleyball team advanced to the NCAA Division II South Region finals by defeating the North Florida Ospreys 3-0 earlier this afternoon in the semi-finals.
The Buccaneers extended their winning streak to 17 matches on the season after putting on a show versus the third-seeded Ospreys by winning all three games 30-19, 30-15, and 30-24.
Fernanda Ferreira (So., MH, Sao Paulo, Brazil) and
Rochelle Magill (Jr., OH, Florence, Ariz.) led the Buccaneer winning efforts with 12 kills apiece. Magill also added a team high 13 digs while
Karla Bersano (So., OH, Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Ferreira each had 10 digs on the night.
Tricia Stanton (Sr., MH, Los Angeles, Calif.) added a team high .818 attack percentage with 9 kills on 11 attempts.
The Ospreys were paced by Heidi Pearson with a team high 10 kills.
The Buccaneers improved to 28-2 overall on the season while the Ospreys ended their season falling to 26-8.
The Buccaneers will return to action on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. for the South Region championship versus the winner of the Tampa/Armstrong Atlantic match.
