Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--Kirsten Buteau's goal at the 62:10 mark propelled the Barry University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over the Eckerd College Tritons at the Turley Complex Friday afternoon.
The Buccaneers (13-3-0, 5-0-0 SSC) took another step toward their third straight Sunshine State Conference title by beating the Tritons (8-5-1, 4-2-0 SSC). Only Saint Leo (4-11-0, 0-4-0 SSC) on Sunday stands in the way of Barry's third straight undefeated conference season.
The game was hotly contested match with both teams having good scoring opportunities. Barry held a 14-9 edge in shots, but Kathy Atkins made seven saves for the Tritons to keep them in the game.
Johanna Fischer had four saves in earning her seventh shutout of the season.
The win was the Buccaneers' 20th-straight in SSC play.
