Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry women's soccer team ran its Sunshine State Conference winning streak to 18 games by beating the Florida Southern Moccasins 3-0 at Buccaneer Field Sunday afternoon.
On senior day, the Buccaneers got goals from a freshman, sophomore and junior to defeat the Mocs.
Junior
Marie Gunnarsson got the Bucs on the scoreboard at the 20:52 mark.
Tammie Thornton played the ball up the left side to Kirsten Buteau whose cross found Gunnarsson alone in the box for the goal.
The score stood at 1-0 until the 88:26 mark when a similar play with Pam McDonald and Charlene Hillebrand combining on the assist set up sophomore Thornton with a goal.
Just over a minute later,
Britt Miazgowicz rifled a shot into the box which was saved by FSC's Lacy Emmerling and freshman Hillebrand wrested the ricochet away from the Mocs' sweeper to bury the game's final goal.
Amy Gibson, making her first collegiate start, had one save to record her first shutout. Emmerling had another outstanding day against the Bucs, making 15 saves to increase her league-leading total to 131.
Barry improves to 12-3-0, 4-0-0 in the SSC. Florida Southern falls to 5-11-0, 0-5-0 in the conference. The Bucs are on the road for the rest of the regular season, including a huge conference showdown in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Oct. 26 against Eckerd.
