Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry women's soccer team took one more step toward their third straight Sunshine State Conference championship by knocking off the Lynn Knights 1-0 at Buccaneer Field Friday night.
Ashley Snell (Royal Palm Beach, Fla./Wellington HS) scored the games only goal at the 83:01 mark.
Kassy Slattery drove the ball up the left flank to
Tammie Thornton who found Snell alone in the box for the goal.
Johanna Fischer stopped four shots for the Bucs to record her league-best sixth shutout. Sarah Reed made two saves for the Knights.
The Buccaneers led 14-7 on shots, but the Knights put one more on goal, leading 4-3. Snell's was the difference.
The win was the Buccaneers' 17th straight SSC win, dating back to a 3-0 win over Rollins on Oct. 14, 1998. Barry improves to 10-3-0, 3-0-0 in the SSC. Lynn falls to 5-4-0, 1-2-0 in the conference. The Buccaneers travel to Palm Beach, Fla., on Sunday to take on the Northwood Seahawks.
