Sherwin Pereira was named a graduate assistant coach of Barry University's volleyball team in 2015. He assists in player development, oversees the team's strength and conditioning, organizes team workouts and assists in offering nutritional advice to the athletes.
Since January of 2015, Pereira has programmed team's workouts, and has worked with athletes recovering from injuries or those trying to reach additional fitness goals. With most of his focus in the offseason devoted to strength and conditioning workouts, Pereira has also used lab equipment and testing to evaluate the team's power performance and body composition. Â
In the summer of 2015, he worked with North-West University men's and women's soccer teams in South Africa, overseeing fitness and strength and conditioning sessions during the Pukke competitive season. He also shadowed strength and conditioning coach Jachus Coetze of the Potchefstroom-based North-West Province Leopards Rugby Union in South Africa.Â
Pereira served in the United States Marine Corps from 2007-10, stationed in Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California.Â
He has earned fitness certifications in strength and conditioning (CSCS), Weightlifting (USAWL1) and group fitness (AFAA) between 2014-15.
A 2015 graduate of Barry in exercise physiology, Pereira earned a minor in sports enhancement performance psychology. He is pursuing a master's degree in exercise physiology from Barry.
Pereira resides in Miami Shores.Â
