Akemi Maehama

Akemi Maehama was named a volunteer coach with the women's tennis team in 2015.

Maehama, who played four years with the Buccaneers, has worked tennis camps at Quayside Tennis Center in Miami Shores, taught private lessons and conducted conditioning workouts with ITF junior players in South Florida. She is responsible for player development, general on-court assistance and administrative duties.

Maehama went 47-3 in singles and 14-1 in doubles during her Bucs career. She was a part of two NCAA Championship teams during her playing career.

Maehama graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education in 2014, and is pursuing a master's degree in sport management from Barry.
