Maria Stampolkou

Maria Stampolkou joined the rowing coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach in the fall of 2022, before being promoted to an assistant coach in the fall of 2023. 

Stampolkou enjoyed a lustrous career as a Buccaneer, rowing from 2018-22. As a freshmen, the Bucs placed second at the Head of the Charles, which is the largest regatta in the world, as well as placing first at the Head of Indian Creek in the V8+ and V4+. As a sophomore, she was named First-Team All-American, which includes the nation's top-eight rowers in Division II, as well as being named a CRCA All-American. In her junior year, she was named First-Team All-American for the second consecutive season, also being named First-Team All- SSC, which includes the conference's top-eight rowers. She was named a CRCA Scholar All-American for a second time, to go along with being given the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award. The team finished in fourth at the Head of the Charles. In her senior year, she was given the women's at-large Academic All-District Award which recognizes the nation's top student athlete from all sports for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. She was named a CRCA Scholar All-American for the third time in her career and won first place in the SSC championships and the FIRA championships in the V8+. Additionally the Bucs finished in second place at the Head of the Charles in the V4+. 

Before her career at Barry, she rowed for the Greek National Team in 2015-2016. 

Her work experience includes being a staff accountant at Valid Solutions Consulting for a year, collecting and assembling financial data to analyze cost on a year-to-year basis while also monitoring financial accounts for multiple clients and tracking their expenses. 

Stampolkou has a passion for helping children, interning at Voices for Children in Broward Country, which is a non-profit organization supporting youth in the foster care system. She helped in after school programs by reading, tutoring, mental health programs, and working with case workers to ensure that the kids have all the necessities to succeed in life. She also interned at Catholic Legal Services in Miami Dade for a year supporting south Florida's refugee, asylum seeker, and immigrant community, by assisting the legal team in providing legal services to those who come from foreign lands and lack sufficient means to obtain representation. 

She received her bachelor's degree in criminology, graduating summa cum laude honors. She was named to the President's list four times and named to the Dean's list four times. 

She is now pursuing her two master's degrees, one in forensic accounting and one in business administration with a specialization in accounting.
