Dr. Daniela Espino joined the cross country staff in the summer of 2023 as assistant coach.
Espino, who ran at nearby FIU in Miami, served as an assistant coach at Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, Ga., in the fall of 2017 and as a track assistant at the Howard School in the spring. She began her coaching career in Miami, at Doral Academy, where she was the head coach in 2013. She also coached the track teams at Mater Academy in 2014 and iMater in 2015.
In addition to coaching, she has worked as a math, science and physical education teacher at some of the same schools. Lately, she has been working in physical therapy, specializing in runners.
She ran collegiate cross country and track at FIU from 2008-13, setting several Panther records during her career, and earning All-Sun Belt Conference honors. She served as team captain and as a representative on the Student-Athlete Leadership Council.
She earned her bachelor's degree in biological sciences from FIU in 2013 and her doctorate in physical therapy from Georgia State in 2019. She earned a Level 1 certification from USA Track & Field in 2015 and a Level 2-Endurance Specialization in 2021.
