Tito Arias was named a volunteer assistant coach at Barry University in January 2018.
He assists with player development, scouting and recruiting.
In his first season at Barry, Arias was part of a team that went 23-9, advancing to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. The Buccaneers won the NCAA South Region championship and Sunshine State Conference regular season titles. Point guard Elvar Fridriksson earned three All-American honors.
Prior to Barry, Arias was an assistant coach in his second stint at the College of Central Florida from 2014-16. During his two stints with the Patriots, Arias coached five National Junior College Athletic Association All-Americans.Â
At CCF, he was responsible for coaching, player development, recruiting, strength and conditioning, fundraising and academic monitoring.
He spent the 2013-14 season coaching at Paine College. In his one season in Augusta, Ga., the Lions won 18 games -- the most since 2006. The Lions finished as the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season runner-up with an 11-7 league record. Paine advanced to the SIAC Tournament for the third straight year.Â
From 2008-13, Arias had his first coaching stint at the College of Central Florida. In 2012-13, the Patriots went 34-3, winning the NJCAA Division I National Championship after claiming the Region XIII and Mid-Florida Conference titles. That year capped a three-year run of winning the league title. The Patriots also won the league in 2008-09.Â
Arias got his coaching start in 2007-08 at his alma mater, the University of Maine at Machias. The Clippers were runner-up in the NAIA's then Sunrise Conference.Â
Arias played point guard at Machias from 2005-07. A two-year starter with the Clippers, he served as captain his senior year. The Clippers captured the 2007 Sunrise Conference title. He played his first year of college ball in 2003-04 at Miami-Dade College under current Barry coach Butch Estes.
Arias earned his bachelors degree in recreation tourism management from Maine at Machias in 2008.Â
