Fred Lymas

Fred Lymas, who coached the inaugrual men's club team, joined the women's varsity staff in 2015-16.

Lymas began working as a volunteer coach with Barry University men's basketball team in 2013.

In 2014-15, Lymas served on a staff that helped the Buccaneers go 25-6 with a trip to the second round of the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Barry rose to No. 2 in the nation, and was ranked in the Top 25 in the national polls in every week but the first during the season. The Bucs knocked off then-No. 1 and Florida Southern, 107-102, on the road in early January. Barry went 13-3 in the league, finishing second in the Sunshine State Conference. The Bucs advanced to the championship game of the SSC Tournament, falling to Florida Southern.

In his first year with the Bucs, Lymas worked on a staff that went 19-9, advancing to the NCAA Tournament. Barry finished fourth in the SSC, and was ranked No. 25 in the national poll at one point during the season.

From 2009 to 2013, Lymas served as the associate head coach under coach Patrick Crarey for Washington Adventist University, an NAIA school in Takoma Park, Maryland. Lymas was responsible for recruiting, on-court coaching, player development, scouting and all other facets of the program. During his time at Washington Adventist, Lymas was a big part of rebuilding the program as the Shock made back-to-back trips to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament -- a feat that had not been accomplished in 20 years.

Lymas began his playing career at Morgan State under coach Butch Beard in 2005. He transferred to Shepherd University, where he was a two-year team captain and finished among the school's top 10 in assists. Lymas received his bachelors in social work from Shepherd University in 2009 and earned a masters degree in social work from Barry in 2013.

Lymas, a Silver Spring, Md., native, was an All-Metro League selection at Paint Branch High School.

He currently works as a mental health therapist at New Horizons Community Mental Health Center in Miami.Â
