Dean Kanganis joined the Buccaneer baseball staff in the fall of 2022 as a volunteer assistant coach before being promoted to assistant coach and co-recruiting coordinator in the summer of 2023. In the summer of 2024, he was promoted again to recruiting coordinator and assumed leadership of the JV program as head coach. In summer of 2025, he was promoted yet again, to associate head coach while maintaining the rest of his duties.
Since joining the Buccaneers, Kanganis has helped establish one of the premier programs in NCAA Division II, playing an integral role in one of the most successful seasons in program history, helping lead the Buccaneers to the 2023 South Region 2 Tournament championship and the program's first-ever NCAA Super Regional appearance. As the recruiting coordinator, he has contributed to multiple nationally ranked recruiting classes, including the No. 1-ranked NCAA Division II recruiting class according to Perfect Game in 2023. During his tenure, Barry has consistently signed Top-5 recruiting classes nationally, developed four All-Sunshine State Conference infielders and one All-Region infielder, and has advanced 14 student-athletes to NCAA Division I programs.Â
In his two seasons leading the JV Buccaneers, Kanganis has guided the program to a 28-19-1 record, tying the school record for victories in a season and breaking the school record for stolen bases at the JV level. At the varsity level, he serves at the third base coach, also breaking the school record for stolen bases in a season, primarily working with infielders and hitters. He also coordinates alumni engagement events, oversees study hall, attendance, and academic progress, and serves as camp coordinator through Diamond Glove Academy.
Beyond his collegiate coaching responsibilities, Kanganis is the owner and lead instructor of Diamond Glove Academy, a premier infield development organization partnered with Valle Training Gloves. Through the academy, more than 30 players have advanced to the collegiate level, while professional players Brandon Barriera (Toronto Blue Jays, first-round selection) and Cory Acton (Atlanta Braves, ninth-round selection) are among those who have trained within the program.
Prior to joining Barry, Kanganis spent seven years coaching in South Florida, serving on the staffs at Cypress Bay High School, Westminster Academy, and Cannon Baseball Academy from 2015 to 2022.
A former collegiate infielder, Kanganis played four seasons at Penn State-Harrisburg, where he earned a bachelor's degree in marketing in 2014. He later earned a Master of Business Administration from Barry University in 2025.
