ATHLETIC RESOURCES FOR MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT (A.R.M.S.)
Introduced in the fall 2019, the Barry University A.R.M.S. program was created to identify, monitor, and develop action plans to better assist student-athletes with their mental well-being. The student-athlete mental well-being is best served through collaborative efforts of campus and community resources. This model of care enhances the ability to treat the student-athlete both physically and mentally. A student-athletes’ mental health is every bit as important as their physical health. Our dedication to each student-athlete is to provide a holistic approach for their mental well-being. The goal is to assist with mental health issues before they escalate into student code of conduct incidents or a student withdraws from the University.
The A.R.M.S. Team consists of members from the Athletic Department, University Counseling Center and the Sport Psychology Department. The team meets at least twice a semester to review the progress of all student-athletes.
