Baseball Salvages Split With #25 Eckerd

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers salvaged a split with #25 Eckerd on Saturday in their Sunshine State Conference baseball series at Feinbloom Field. The Bucs dropped the opener 15-7 in 12 innings, but rebounded to win 13-12 in 10 innings in the finale.

  • B3 - Barry got on the board in the third. Dyson Joseph singled and Zavier Hatfield walked. After both runners moved up on a balk by Triton starter Nick Rainey, Anthony Tralongo drove in one runs with a single to left. Jalen smith doubled in another run and later scored on a single by Blake Opie. | Barry 3, Eckerd 0
  • B4 - Hatfield singled with one out and later scored on a fly out by Erik Blair. | Barry 4, Eckerd 0
  • T5 - The Tritons finally broke through against Buccaneer starter Mason Blocker. Hunter Rebhan doubled to drive in a pair and scored on a single by Kam Gelwick. | Barry 4, Eckerd 3
  • T6 - Eckerd tied the game in the sixth. Dawson Jones singled with one out and went to third on a failed pick off by reliever Robert Boing. Joey Bazydlo drove in the run with a single to right. | Barry 4, Eckerd 4
  • B7 - With one out Aquiles Arzeno and Joseph singled. After Hatfield bunted them over, Tralongo drew a walk to load the bases. Smith walked to force in a run.   • T2 - Cabina led off with a home run to left. After a bunt single from Luis Garrido and a double by Dawson Jones, Bazydlo knocked one run with a single and Gimson had a sacrifice fly. | Eckerd 3, Barry 0

  • B3 - The Bucs loaded the bases on singles by Lee-Anthony Santiago and Aramis Ramirez, Jr., and a walk to Hatfield. Tralongo walked to force in one run and Smith deliverd a two-run single. | Eckerd 5, Barry 3
  • T5 - With the bases loaded and a run already across, Bazydlo singled up the middle to score two runs and another scored on a pair of errors by Hatfield. | Eckerd 9, Barry 3

  • B7 - Barry tied it up in the seventh. Ramirez walked and scored when Rebhan threw away the ball on ground from Aidan Heffner. Heffner scored on a ground ball by Tralongo. Opie tripled to right center and scored on a single by Hungler. | Barry 12, Eckerd 12
  • B10 - In the first extra inning, the Bucs ended the game. Heffner walked and Tralongo singled to left. Heffner stole third and brough in the winning run on a fly out by Mendez. | Barry 13, Eckerd 12

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Reliever Max Folkman (1-0) worked two scoreless innings in the first game to get the win. He retired all six batters faced, including one strikeout.
  • Dalton Williams (0-2) took the loss for the Bucs, allowing eight runs (five earned) on five hits and two walks in a third of an inning.
  • Blair (1-0) worked a perfect inning in the 10th in game two to get his first collegiate win. 
  • Tyler Altenbaumer (0-1) went 3.2 innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on six hits and four walks, as Barry mounted its come-back. 
  • Santiago had six hits in the twin bill, including a double.
  • Smith and Blanks each drove in four runs.
  • Cabina had five hits for the Tritons and drove in four runs.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry faces the Lynn Knights on Thursday and Friday of Holy Week.
