LAKELAND, Fla. -- Sunshine State Conference action was back for the Barry Softball team as they took a trip up US-27 to the Swan City to take on Florida Southern. It was another split of the twin bill for the Buccaneers falling in game one 7-2 and recovering for a win in game two 4-2.

SUMMARY (GAME ONE):
- T1 – Barry took advantage of a bumpy start in the circle as Mya Tucker drew a four-pitch walk to start the game. Serah Shafer had another base hit bunt to have two runners aboard. With a wild pitch advancing both to scoring position, Sarah Langlie was able to drive Tucker in for the first run on the game. That would be all that Barry got in the inning. | Barry 1, FSC 0
- B2 – A fielding error allowed the leadoff hitter to reach. A double followed to put two in scoring position. The big hit came with the bases loaded and two outs as the Mocs got a bases clearing double that ended the inning when trying to be stretched for a triple. | FSC 4, Barry 1
- T3 – The Bucs were able to cut their deficit in half scratching for a run in the following frame. Shafer doubled town the left field line to get the offense going. Chandler Barry had the one-out double that brought her in. | FSC 4, Barry 2
- B5 – Florida Southern grabbed all the insurance they needed in the bottom of the fifth putting up three. A couple of fielding errors aided the scoring. | FSC 7, Barry 2
NOTEWORTHY (GAME ONE):
- Shafer and Barry both had multi-hit games, carrying four of the seven team hits.
- Both teams left nine runners stranded.
- Haelee Angelico came into relief throwing 1.1 innings allowing just two hits, no runs, and one walk.
SUMMARY (GAME TWO):
- B1 – Florida Southern was first to take the lead with a crooked number in the bottom of the first. A two-out rally scored the two runs as three walks were drawn. Barry was able to escape the bases loaded jam with no further damage. | FSC 2, Barry 0
- T3 – Tucker used her speed to reach on a bunt, stole second, moved to third on a ground out, and scored on another ground out to get the Bucs on the board. | FSC 2, Barry 1
- T4 – Back-to-back singles and a walk loaded the bases up. Cameron Marchese tied up the ball game with a single through the left side. Tucker then grounded into a fielder's choice that gave the Bucs the lead. | Barry 3, FSC
- T7 – The final insurance run came in the top of the seventh. A squeeze play from Chandler Barry brought in Shafer for the final run of the game. | Barry 4, FSC 2
NOTEWORTHY (GAME TWO):
- Tucker extends her on-base streak to 27 in a row.
- Shelby Prevatte has the longest standing hit streak at five.
- Kiera Strub had two of the nine hits, as seven other Buccaneers tallied a hit.
- Eight of the nine starters recorded a hit.
- Alexis Martin completed her team leading six complete game and collected her seventh win of the season.
- Martin gave up just four hits and two earned runs with a strikeout.
