MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost 44-74 to the Tampa Spartans in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball showdown at the Health & Sports Center on Wednesday.

- 1Q - The Spartans scored the first eight points in the game. A jumper by Kendall Parker with an assist by Jameria Robinson put the first points on the board for the Bucs with 6:57 left in the first period. After Tampa got the ball back, Andreonia Doe got the steal and made a layup on a fastbreak, which changed the score to 8-4 with 6:30 left. Tampa still kept the lead at 16-6 with 2:00 left as Jazz Cook put up a good layup with an assist by Akvile Babraityte. - 2Q - A Parker free throw with 3:35 to play cut the lead back to 16. But the Spartans scored the final 11 points of the period to carry a 27-point lead into the break. | Tampa 45, Barry 18
- 3Q - The Spartans pushed the lead to over 30 with a 7-2 run over the first five minutes of the third quarter. The Bucs again went cold from the floor as the Spartans pushed the lead to 37. | Tampa 61, Barry 24
- 4Q - Bucs made a somewhat of a comeback in the fourth quarter. After Tamps took their biggest lead of the game, 70-31, on a three-pointer by Brooklyn Butler with just under four minutes to play. Barry closed the game on a 10-2 run. | Tampa 74, Barry 44
NOTEWORTHY:
- Cook led the Bucs with ten points, two blocks and seven rebounds.
- Amy Thompspn went 8-for-11 in three-pointers for the Spartans to lead with 24 points under her belt, including hitting 8-for-9 in the first half.
- Ryan Franklin went 7-for-8 on field goals to score 18 points and added a game-high 12 rebounds.
- Paola Xargayo Pareja and Parker both had two steals putting up a defensive match against Tampa.
- Tampa dominated the game by keeping the lead and outscoring the Bucs at the three-point line. Tampa hit 13-for-30 from behind the arc, while the Bucs managed just 4-for-25.
