Women's Basketball Drops Contest to Moccasins

LAKELAND, Fla. --  The Barry Buccaneers fell 80-62 to the Florida Southern Moccasins in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action in Jenkins Field House on Wednesday night.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - The Mocs got off to a fast start and led 11-0 after the first fou minutes. Izzy Brenzil score nine of the first 11 points for the Bucs, the Mocs took a 13-point edge into the break. | FSC 28, Barry 15
  • 2Q - The Mocs pushed their lead to 19 on two occasions, but Barry closed the frame on an 8-0 run, with a three-pointer from Brenzil and five points from Kendall Parker. | FSC 46, Barry 35
  • 3Q - Early in the third quarter, the Bucs continued their run and trimmed the lead to six on a layup by Brnezil with 6:34 to play. BUt the Mocs quickly pushed the margin back to 12 and held it there the rest of the period. | FSC 62, Barry 50
  • 4Q - Barry socred the first seven points of the final period to cut the lead to five after a jumper by Andreonia De with 8:05 to play. But FSC responded with an 18-0 run over the next six minutes to put the game away.  | FSC 80, Barry 62

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Izzy Brenzil led Barry with 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
  • Parker had 14 points, Doe 11 and Kornelia Ignerska added 10 for four players in double figures.
  • Sydney Gomes led the Mocs with 26 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Gianna Vos and Carlota Gomez Alonso each had 12 points and Nacoya Blocton added 10.
  • FSC held a commanding 47-30 edge on glass and out-scored the Bucs by 11 from the free throw line.

ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs travel up to take on the Tampa Spartans on Saturday, Jan. 10.
