Women's Basketball Falls To Sailfish

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. --  The Barry Buccaneers fell 62-51 to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action in Rubin Arena on Wednesday.

  • 1Q - Jazz Cook opened the scoring to give Barry a 2-0 lead, but the Sailfish scored 14 of the next 16 points to go up by 10.  | PBA 16, Barry 6
  • 2Q - Down nine with just under seven minutes left in the half, the Bucs scored six straight over the next two minutes to cut the lead to three, 22-19, on a pair of free throws by Kendal Parker. But PBA respnded with a 9-2 run to push the lead back to double digits, before Paola Pareja Xargayo sunk a pair from the stripe to end the period.  | PBA 31, Barry 23
  • 3Q - Leading by 10, the Sailfish rode a 6-0 run to extend the lead to a game-high 16 points on a bucket by KB Hadley with 5:53 left. Barry rallied over the rest of the period, to pull back to a 10-point advantage. | PBA 47, Barry 37
  • 4Q - The Bucs quickly sliced the lead in half as Akvile Babraityte sank a three-pointer to cap a 7-2 run to start the fourth quarter. But the 'Fish regained the momentum and an pair of free throws by Anabel Ellison made the final margin.  | PBA 62, Barry 51

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Cook led Barry with 14 points, while Pareja Xargayo and Babraityte each scored 10.
  • Hadley paced the Sailfish with 16 points and Ellison and Breeje Schuler each chipped in 13.
