ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Barry Volleyball got the day going early at Halenbeck Hall with a three-set sweep against Michigan Tech. This is the first win over the Huskies for the Buccaneers. It was a slow offensive start for Barry that progressed upward throughout the match. The fourth straight victory marks the 11th time in program history that the season got kicked off in that manner. It is the sixth time that it has happened via four sweeps.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set One - The defense has started to pick it up at the net as the match started with a block by Ester Pushkarov and Veronika Eremeeva. Both teams traded 4-0 runs to bring the match tied at five-al. Barry was able to string together another big run of five points taking advantage of a service error, then the defense kicked in for another block by Pushkarov and Varvara Osychenko. The attack clicked for the next three as Thalia Iglesias, Sofya Sinkova, and Osychenko collected kills. This gave the Bucs a 11-7 advantage. The Huskies trailed a late comeback but was shutdown by a momentum swing from Eremeeva. The sophomore also ended the set with a kill. - Set Two - It was a full offensive turn around in the second set as the Bucs hit .400 points above the first set, swinging .565 with 16 kills and just three attack errors. Barry came out the gates hot going on a 6-0 run to open the set. Four kills and a big block helped lead the way. Another six point run helped widen the gap as it quickly turned 13-2 on the scoreboard. Osychenko closed out the set with a service ace to hold a 2-0 advantage. | Barry 25, Michigan Tech 15
- Set Three - Sinkova got the party going in set three with the first kill to keep the energy on the Buccaneers side. Teams traded off points back and forth until a service error for the Huskies tied things up at seven-all and gave Barry service to one of the best in that spot, Osychenko. The dynamic duo of Eremeeva and Osychenko teamed up for three straight kills to gain space. It gradually continued to stretch for the Bucs as they score two points for every one of Michigan Tech's. NOTEWORTHY:
- Veronika Eremeeva hit a new season-high with 15 kills, she has recorded double-digits and led the team in every match thus far.\
- The sophomore was a dig shy from the first double-double of the year having nice digs.
- Varvara Osychenko had seven kills and seven digs to go along with two service aces and a block.
- Gaia Riedmüller had a new season-high with 12 digs to hold down the back row.
- Ester Pushkarov hit a new career-high in kills with seven kills going nearly perfect on her eight attempts, swinging .875.
- Petra Brkicic led the setters with 24 assists.
- Ivana Zujovic led the defense at the net with six blocks, while going 3-for-5 on the attack.
- The defense locked in for their highest blocks this year at nine in the match.
- Statistically, the Bucs led in all categories: kills (40-29), aces (7-5), blocks (9-2), assists (35-27), and digs (34-25)
- It is the second 40-kill performance by the team this season.
