Volleyball Jumps Up Three Spots in AVCA/TARAFLEX Poll

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.  Barry Volleyball opened the season ranked 20th in the country and has now risen three spots after the opening week of play in the latest AVCA/TARAFLEX DII Women's Volleyball Poll that was release September 8th. This marks the 11th straight weekly poll the Buccaneers have appeared in, this is their highest ranking in that span.

The Buccaneers swept their opening day doubleheader against Malone and D'Youville. not dropping a set taking both matches 3-0. This extended their season opener win streak to 12 straight and an overall record of 28-9.

The offense showed out hitting .444 over the two-match span for second best in the nation over the weekend. Against D'Youville, the Bucs had their fifth best three-set offensive outing hitting .493 for the entire match. Reigning SSC Freshmen of the Year, Veronika Eremeeva led the way with 21 kills and swinging .400. All hitter hit over .360 on the weekend with middle hitter, Ivana Zujovic had the highest hit percentage with .786 putting away 12 of her 14 attacks.

The Bucs will head to Minnesota for the UP North Tournament where they will play Northern Michigan, Michigan Tech, and host St. Cloud State.
