Women's Soccer Clinches Conference Tournament Berth

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry clinched a spot in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament on Saturday night at Buccaneer Field with a 0-0 draw with the Florida Southern Moccasins in women's soccer action.

SUMMARY:

  • First Half - The first half was all Florida Southern, as the Mocs held 72 percent of the possession and out-shot Barry 5-0, 3-0 on goal.
  • Second Half - The second half the Bucs showed much better, holding possession for almost 50 percent of the time and getting off three shots. They missed a golden opportunity late in the half when FSC keeper Carly Brodsky got caught out of her net, but the Mocs defense recovered to keep the Bucs from firing on the open net.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The final shot count went 10-3 for the Mocs, 6-1 on goal
  • Marlen Hernandez stopped five shots to post her eighth solo shutout of the season, including a point-blank shot from Bria Weldon with less than five minutes to play.
  • Brodsky had one save for the Mocs giving her a league-best 10 clean sheets on the season.
  • The draw for the Bucs was their ninth of the season, tying the all-time NCAA Division II record, set by Chico State in 2009 and tied in 2023 by Texas-Tyler, Assumption and Cal State-LA.
  • It was also the eighth scoreless draw, extending their own national record.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry closes the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Florida Tech and then awaits seeding for the SSC Tournament.
