MIAMI SHORES, Fla. --Women's basketball battled back and forth, but fell 69-62 to the Tampa Spartans in Sunshine State Conference action in the Health & Sports Center on Wednesday.

- 2Q - The Bucs reclaimed the lead in the second quarter, scoring the first seven points, capped by a layup from Kaliyah Morales at 8:41. But then it was the Spartans' turn, as they rolled off a 14-0 run to go up by double figures, 31-21, with 2:51 left before half. - 3Q - It swung back to Buccaneers in the third quarter. Barry opened with a 14-4 run to take a lead, 43-35, with 3:38 left. After a three-pointer by Wallhoff with 1:13 left, the Bucs led 48-38. The Spartans cut the lead to six at the break. | Barry 48, Tampa 42

NOTEWORTHY:
- Morales led the Bucs with 16 points off the bench.
- Wallhoff added 15 on 5-of-10 three-point shooting and Audrey Jennings chipped in 13.
- Kayla Lindsey had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
- Olivia Davis led four Spartans in double figures with 16 points. Sariana Rodriguez added 15, Zoe Piller had 12 and Audrey Ramsey added 10 points.
- Thanks to Lindsey's efforts, the Bucs led 40-29 on the glass, leading to a 16-2 edge in second-chance points.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs travel up to Winter Park, Fla., to face the Rollins Tars as the second round of conference play gets underway.
