Junior Bucs Open Season With WIn Over Banyans

Bucs win opener for the third straight year

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The junior varsity Bucs opened the 2024 season with an 8-4 win over the Mighty Banyans of New College of Florida at Feinbloom Field on Wednesday.

  • B1 - Barry grabbed en early lead in the first inning. After Akira Nakamura singled and Jesus Rodriguez reached on an error, Alex Campbell and Hector Camacho followed with RBI singles. | Barry 2, New College 0
  • B5 - In the fifth, Barry scored three. Eric Vega led off with a walk and scored on a sacrifice fly by Nakamura.Angel Rivera Perez singled, stole third and scored on an error. Campbell had another RBI single. | Barry 5, New College 0

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Kyle Rostock (1-0) worked the first three innings in the split game, to get the win. He allowed just one hit and struck out three.
  • Adrian Orozco (0-1) took the loss for the Banyans. In four innings, he allowed two unearned runs on three hits and two walks. 
  • Joseph Gamiz induced a ground ball double play to end the game in the ninth, earning his first save.
  • Campbell had two hits and two RBI for the Bucs. Rodriguez, Vega and Rivera Perez each scored two runs.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs host Florida Memorial on Monday, Feb. 19 in a double header starting at 1:30 pm.
