MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--Barry baseball pitchers Chris Lopez and Danny Vazquez earned Academic All-South Region softball honors for the spring of 2022.
Lopez, a sophomore left-hander, went 1-2 on the season with a 4.24 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 34.0 innings. He struck out 15 and walked 10. He carries a 3.51 GPA as an academic senior in criminology.
Vazquez, a junior righty, also went 1-2 on the season and aded two saves. In 23.2 innings, he posted a 4.96 ERA and 1.31 WHIP, striking out 22 and walking just eight. He has a 3.35 GPA in management as an academic senior.
The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late July.
The CoSIDA Academic All-South Region® team includes the student-athletes listed below and includes student-athletes from the Sunshine State Conference, Gulf South Conference and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
