MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The junior varsity version of Barry Buccaneer baseball improved to 2-0 with a 5-4 win over ScoutzUSA at Feinbloom Field on Sunday afternoon.

- T2 - The visitors got on the board first, as Cole Kosco doubled to drive in Cody Schneider, who was hit by pitch to lead off the inning. | S-USA 1, Barry 0
- B2 - The Bucs grabbed the lead in the bottom of the frame. Yovan Ayes drove a triple over the head of Kosco in right, socring Bubba Hagen and Giann-Michael Dominguez. | Barry 2, S-USA 1
- B3 -Barry tacked on another run in the third. Danny Garcia singled and scored ahead of an Alexander Manent double into the gap in left center. | Barry 3, S-USA 1
- T4 - The guest took advantage of some fielding miscues to knot the game up in the fourth. Justin Toledo came up with the two-oout single to drive in Kosco and Jackson Unice to tie the game. | Barry 3, S-USA 3
- B6 - The Bucs took the lead for good in the sixth. Hagen singled to lead off and Lee-Anthony Santiago came in to run for him. Ayes singled through the left side and Chris Meilan moved the runners to second and third with a terrific bunt. Bryan Matthews knocked in Santiago with a fly ball to right. | Barry 4, S-USA 3
- B8 - Barry tacked on what proved to be a crucial insurance run in the eighth. Ayes led off with a bunt single and Meilan ripped a double down the left-field line. Garcia scored Ayes with a fly ball to center. | Barry 5, S-USA 3
- T9 - Scoutz got a run in the ninth off reliever Edgar Rodriguez. Heriberto Bahamonde doubled to right field and scored on a single by Isaac Frye. | Barry 5, S-USA 4
NOTEWORTHY:
- Chad Baker (1-0) earned the win for the Bucs with 3.2 innings of one-hit ball. He struck out five.
- Rodriguez allowed a run on two hits in the ninth, but picked up his first save.
- Logan Butler (2-1) took the loss for Scoutz, allowing a run on two hits and two walks in an inning-plus of work.
- Ayes led the Bucs at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI.
- Garcia and Manent each had two hits and drove in one run.
- Kosco had two of the nine hits for the guests and drove in one run.
- Toledo added two RBI.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs visit Rollins JV next Sunday in their first road games. The doubleheader starts at 1:00 pm.
